Hey, I’m Jama

In my work, you'll see my inspirations - the personal stories of my clients, fashion + art + food, and the power of human connection. And with a background in event planning and culinary arts, I love finding beauty and radiance in everyone and every detail I photograph!

In high school, I was that girl who worked on the yearbook and picked up a professional camera for the first time. I loved that feeling of creating images on film and watching the picture appear through the chemicals in the darkroom. Playing with the light and exposure and then piecing together all those photos and adding the storytelling elements to finish the pages of my classmates and the awkward moments of teens.

In college I fell in love with my major in Counseling Psychology, studying intricacies that make us all human... the stories we tell ourselves and the stories we share to create those beautiful connections. I learned to really listen and see. A fortunate collide with an events internship re-directed my career path and counseling degree turned artistic directing and planner of small and large-scale events - the colors, the textures, the details, the energy of the people in the room, the food, and snapshots. Then a foray into pastry arts in between. To this day I find the most comfortable standing behind the scenes and observing the action flow past me or working with my hands-on with a small creative team on something special.

Visual Imagery, Authentic Connections, and Storytelling are the common threads throughout my life. I've learned to lean on all three to connect with the people who I love and revere.
